Healthy, organic and non-GMO vegan southern favorites.

Open since opening in 2021, Plantology had to be included on our list of vegan and vegetarian restaurants in San Antonio for some of the best vegan food made using fresh ingredients.

Founder Griselda Munoz has created a wholesome menu that is sure to appeal to all in this modern up-market fast-food place. Using 100% organic non-GMO soy products and ensuring waste is composted where possible as well as using responsible packaging, Plantology is striving to make its ethos work across all areas of the business.

Found on the Far West Side, there’s some parking available at this spacious establishment. Plantology makes for quite the Insta-worthy location with lots of natural light, colorful murals and foliage all around in a sort of health food store meets fast-food aesthetic. Staff are attentive and caring with the counter-service and there are so many great items on the menu to choose from.

You can enjoy a range of options from breakfast to dinner including tacos, greens, handhelds, smoothies and shakes. Breakfast and brunch options are served with cauliflower hashbrowns or kale greens and everything is completely plant-based and gluten-free!

Locals have enjoyed many options since Plantology’s opening including Nashville Hot Chick’n, that’s crispy fried chick’n, Nashville hot sauce, cheddar cheese, creamy kale slaw, house pickles, aioli, and a toasted bun. The house pickles are hand-pickled in-house, what a lovely touch!

Another favorite is the Baja Tacos, which includes crispy tofu, kale slaw, pico, chipotle aioli, and corn tortillas. Kids can choose from a few nicely portioned options served with fresh fruit, house fries or sweet potato fries.

7. Pharm Table

Plant-focused locavore restaurant with an intimate setting, perfect for dates and hosting wine tasting events.

Knowledgeable staff are prompt to serve with a menu ranging across, brunch, lunch and dinner. There is plenty of choice across the menus including appetizers, small plates soups and salads and specialties.

Local favorites include the Sweet Potato Waffles at brunch with Asian pear chutney, pure maple syrup, and sweet potato puree. Lunchtime recommendations have included the farm to table tacos with Heirloom corn tortillas, locally sourced mushrooms, chintestle paste, black beans, red cabbage fennel slaw, Asian pickled carrot slaw, hemp-seed salsa, and cilantro.

If you’re after dinner, regulars have loved the Sweet Potato Kitchari, which is curried red lentils, seasonal greens and squash, red cabbage slaw, cilantro coconut chutney, and pepitas. This mostly gluten-free menu has so much to offer including for children where there are a few options such as a small version of the Sweet Potato Waffles.

Another favurite has to be the Spanakopita, that’s three pieces of light pastry filled with a blend of spinach and feta cheese. If you’re a fan of falafel, locals will tell you it’s some of the best around at Dallah. Their homemade chickpea patties fried golden brown are served with hummus and tzatziki sauce for a delicious appetizer.

Kids can enjoy a range of dishes but for the fussier eater, there are also chicken tenders and nuggets. Dallah can be accommodating of gluten intolerances, just ask your server.
