If you are on the hunt for healthy American comfort food, this vegan-friendly, vegetarian restaurant in Annapolis is a great pick. We know that healthy-eating and vacations don’t usually go hand-in-hand, but this eatery hits the spot thanks to a menu filled with many vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and healthy choices.

You will love the cozy, eco-chic atmosphere here, which is perfect for catching up with friends. The sleek wooden floors and open-air kitchen are also great features of this restaurant, but you might not find yourself staying inside for long as the outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying brunch cocktails under the sun.

In our opinion, True Food Kitchen is a great place if you are looking for American dishes that are full of nutrient-dense ingredients, as well as superfoods that are of exceptional quality.

If you are a fan of vegan burgers, we highly recommend trying their Vegan Double Cheeseburger – a real hit with locals. We also enjoy their vegan Charred Cauliflower, vegetarian Good Earth Kale Cobb, and vegan Spinach & Mushroom Pizza. The vegetarian Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert is just the cherry on top.

The menu has several seasonal offerings too, so you know the food is fresh, while the generous portion sizes are bound to keep you full.

2. Light House Bistro

We love trying incredible vegan-friendly and vegetarian breakfast and brunch spots, especially when they also support the local community. So what makes Light House Bistro so special? Well the fact they employ people experiencing homelessness means you can have great food while supporting good deeds.

The coffee shop vibe this place has allows conversation to flow, and the laid-back friendly atmosphere is one reason people return.

Another reason is the great food, and locals love the hearty Veggie Omelet, Goat Cheese and Fig Flatbread and different types of Avocado Toast. If you are looking for gluten free options this is the perfect spot for you too. as any of the flatbreads can be prepared with gluten free dough.

Kids, as well as adults, will enjoy the sweet delicacies from the Light House Bistro and we highly recommend their Warm House Made Bread Pudding and Blueberry, Blueberry Pancakes – they are to die for! The kid’s menu is also fun – who doesn’t love Grilled Cheese and French Fries or even Pizza?

This restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 8am to 3pm butclosed on Monday and Tuesday.

3. Soul

This award-winning restaurant is one of our favorite vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Annapolis not only for the amazing selection of vegan and vegetarian American Southern dishes, but also for their excellent craft cocktails and live music.

The vibrant and casual indoor setting here creates a super relaxed atmosphere to catch up with friends around delicious food. But if you love people-watching, just grab some of those famous cocktails and head to their sun drenched garden patio.

From crave-worthy classics to contemporary cuisine, this restaurant offers you the best of the Carolinas, the Delta, New Orleans and Annapolis. We recommend trying their Pear & Chevre Flatbread, Mushroom Risotto and Roasted Squash Flatbread. And the weekend brunch menu never disappoints – the Deep-Fried Eggs with Cajun Remoulade is an all-time vegetarian favorite!

The super friendly and helpful staff can help you choose any vegetarian and gluten free option if you’re not where to start, and they’re happy to accommodate any tweaks to your dishes.

If you want a social dining experience why not grab a few creative small plates and eat tapas style with friends.

We also love their Sunday Blue’s Brunch – live music as from 12pm to 2pm on every Sunday with different artists each week.

4. Lemongrass

With an extensive dinner menu to choose from, along with the fact most items can be altered to suit allergies or aversions, we guarantee that you won’t fall short of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options at Lemongrass – a restaurant that serves incredible Thai cuisine with a contemporary touch.

Expect a casual dining experience in part thanks to their comfy booth seating will meet all your expectations, alongside the great service, excellent portions and even al fresco dining option thanks to the outdoor seating.

From mouth-watering Khoa Soi Noodles and hearty soups to the vegetable packed Kapow Jae, you’ll get great Thai food here all prepared with top notch ingredients. We also highly recommend their Pa-Ram Jae, Gang Puk and Spicy Eggplant. If you fancy other dishes on the menu, worry not as most of the non-vegetarian options can be substituted for tofu or vegetables – or why not both?

This is a popular Annapolis spot and little wonder. There’s relaxed outdoor seating, drink deals, an extensive menu for adults and kids, as well as a three course special menu for $35 comprising of appetizer, main course, dessert AND a cocktail!

This incredible restaurant serving modern Thai cuisine is open Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm and on Friday to Saturday from 4pm to 9:30pm.

5. Basmati Indian Restaurant

This fine dining vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Annapolis serves exquisite Indian cuisine – the ultimate comfort food after a full day of exploring (at least for us!).

The amazing aroma wafting from the kitchen and the array of vegan and vegetarian options here is one of the reasons this spot is a winner among locals. With lots of comfortable indoor seating, this North Indian eatery also boasts an outdoor patio; great for grabbing some Lassi or Chai beverages or sharing some warm naan and curry among family and friends.

The Assorted Vegetarian Appetizers are a great way to try different Indian snacks, and they’re perfect for sharing too. For more appetizers, we highly recommend their melt in the mouth Alu Tikki, Vegetable Pakora and Bengan Aftab.

As for the large array of vegetarian mains to choose from, our all-time favorites are Paneer Tikka, Vegetable Biryani, Dal Makhani and Malai Kofta. You can always ask the staff to customize your order for less spice in the hotter dishes. This restaurant also has an excellent weekly lunch buffet; a great way to try new vegetarian dishes. Kids will also be pleased with the many varieties on the menu too as the children’s menu has lots of good options.

Fancy something sweet? We absolutely loved their Gulab Jamun, Kulfi, Gajar Halwa and Rasmalai – all Indian classics that will have you coming back for more.

This restaurant is open everyday for lunch from 11:30am to 2:30pm, and for dinner as from 4pm to 9pm.

6. LEBTAV

In our opinion, this Lebanese Taverna serves the best vegetarian and gluten free classic Eastern Mediterranean cuisine in Annapolis. Plus the modern interior décor and beautiful oriental style tile decoration really sets this place apart from other vegetarian-friendly and vegetarian restaurants in Annapolis.

The tasty vegetarian Mezza options also make this restaurant stand out – their Fatayer, M’saka, Babaghanoush and Falafel Basket are all worth ordering. We also recommend trying their Falafel Sandwich, Taverna Salad, or the Ouzi Bowl. The Kid’s Platter is a great option for families too.

On top of that they do delicious cocktails and if you have a sweet tooth, their delightful assortment of Baklava is a real must!

This excellent spot has quick service – always good when you’re hungry! – as well as some of the best bread, hummus and falafel in the area. And if you decide you really enjoy the food, LEBTAV also offer monthly memberships for you to enjoy the regular taste of Lebanon in the comfort of your own home.

7. Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants

Fine dining and an array of vegetarian choices don’t usually go hand in hand, but Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is an exception. Expect upscale contemporary American cuisine with exquisite vegetarian options.

This fine dining spot will undoubtedly please all taste buds, including plant based diets thanks to the large variety of vegan and vegetarian starters and entrees to choose from. Grab one and settle down for the night as you will be wanting to stay a while, and with the large wine list available you’ll have plenty of reasons to stay until closing time.

We highly recommend their Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Classic Tomato Bruschetta and Roasted Vegetable & Goat Cheese Flatbread. And for the main course, some of the options we’d recommend trying are the Sweet Corn & Tomato Risotto and Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad.

And if you’ve room for something sweet after all of that food (and those glasses of wine…..) then you’ll find some all-time favorites, a few creative choices, of their dessert menu. Their Flourless Chocolate Torte, Turtle Pretzel Bread Pudding and Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée are all worth it.

Considering everything you get here it’ll come as no surprise that this place gets busy! So we recommend reserving your table in advance if you’re looking to enjoy this top notch dining experience.

8. Potato Valley Café

If you are looking for a quick, delicious bite with super friendly service, Potato Valley Café is a great pick. This spot never fails to impress us thanks to their perfectly crispy stuffed baked potato, as well as lots of vegetarian fillings.

This café doesn’t only excel in baked potatoes, but also delicious sandwiches, salads and soups. With that the case it’s not surprising that it’s such a famous lunch spot in Annapolis, particularly for those looking for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.

We recommend trying their ‘Rustic Vegan’ baked potato packed with nutritious ingredients such as greens, asparagus, leeks, almonds and cauliflower. Their ‘South of the Valley’ is also an all-time favorite for the exotic tastes within it which include mango and lime! Want something a bit more familiar? Well the Egg Salad Sandwich and Greek Salad are also done really well here.

Let’s be honest, baked potatoes are an all time comfort food that always hits the spot. And not only does Potato Valley do them well, the value for money and huge portions you get here are another big plus!

This café is open from Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm, Saturday from 11am to 4pm, but closed on Sunday.
