Fancy some delicious plant-based food which involves a fantastic fusion of seasonings and flavors? Well we’ve found the ideal vegan cafe and kombucha bar for that with Hippy Chick Hummus!

This hole-in-the-wall has a bohemian feel with some dream catchers that add to the hippie vibe (hence the name), whilst vibrant colors adorn their entrance and outdoor patio. Talking about that patio, since the indoor area is quite snug, why not grab your food and kombucha and soak in the rays. You’ll find a spacious outside area there and you can choose a picnic table shaded by colorful parasols.

This exclusively vegan restaurant in Frederick dishes up some fantastic globally-inspired fare, all prepared with high quality ingredients. Their ethos is offering food as close to nature as possible and they prepare their food with locally grown produce from a certified organic farmer.

And when it comes to the presentation, they incorporate loads of details in their toppings and drizzles which is why everything comes out photogenic. So expect consistency, a balance of flavors, and super super Insta-worthy dishes!

Their extensive menu has many popular dishes loved by regulars such as the Falafel Wrap which is a spinach wrap packed with falafels, sesame carrots, cucumbers, tomato, red onion, your choice of hummus and drizzled with their house lemon tahini dressing.

Their classic Giant Avocado Toast is excellent too and is topped with your preferred choice of hummus, a whole avocado, onion, tomato, hemp hearts, their house seasoning blend, a squeeze of fresh lemon, sea salt and cilantro.

But if you prefer something sweet, then go for ‘The Dragonfruit Mango Bowl’ which consists of 100% organic pink dragonfruit, organic mango, banana, as well as your choice of 5 fresh toppings – this bowl will give you a real taste of the tropics thanks to the exotic fruits.

Hippy Chick Hummus has different operating hours during winter and summer. The winter hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. As for Summer hours, you can visit from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm, but is closed on Mondays.

2. Motherland Kitchen & Spices

How does authentic African cuisine right in the heart of Frederick sound? Although not solely plant-based, we just had to include Motherland Kitchen & Spices on our list of vegan restaurants in Frederick, MD for their excellent choice of vegan soul food.

This restaurant has a roadside diner look to it, and has plenty of space for you to enjoy your meal. The interior has loads of wicker chairs, as well as a cozy sofa perfect for relaxing and enjoying a light snack or drink. The burgundy walls, ceiling fans, hanging pictures and pleasant African music playing in the background all add to this restaurant’s character.

As for the vegan options, some favorites include their Eggplant Stew which is prepared with eggplant, zucchini, leeks, onion, tomato and aromatic herbs and spices, and their Moi Moi which consists of blackeye peas, onion and red bell peppers. These selections are perfectly paired with the delicious Jollof Rice, Plantain Fufu or Vegan Cauliflower Pilaf.

You can also mix and match your vegan food choices, all for a super affordable price too! Just make sure if you do that, you don’t miss out on their Fried Plantains too as these are always a crowd-pleaser!

Motherland Kitchen & Spices is open on Monday from 11am to 8pm and Tuesday to Thursday from 1pm to 7pm. As for Friday and Saturday, you can visit from 11am to 8:30pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6:30pm.

3. Cafe Nola

Whether you’re on the search for a great breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner or even a late night snack, Cafe Nola is a must as they’re open from 8am and closes as late as to 2am!

This cafe not only has tempting vegan choices made with organic ingredients on their menu, but they also serve some of the best cocktails in the city! And that’s exactly why we just had to include them on our list of vegan restaurants in Frederick, MD.

Even though they’re technically a cafe, this place has more of a pub vibe to it thanks to the lively bar area and sociable atmosphere. You can grab a table and dig into excellent food whilst catching up with friends, or if you want to just enjoy some cocktails, why not go to their bar stools where you’ll get to see the bartenders do what they do best!

Let’s skip to the food, as although not exclusively vegan, you’ll be spoiled for choice here. Some of the popular dishes include the Vegan Hash which consists of quinoa spinach & potato hash, vegan sausage and vegan cheddar cheese, while another is their BLT which is prepared with vegan ‘bacon’, lettuce, tomato, avocado and vegan mayonnaise.

If you fancy something heartier, we recommend their Beyond Burger which is a vegan pretzel bun topped with tomato, avocado, alfalfa sprouts and chipotle veganaise. Or go for the Black Bean Wrap consisting of a black bean patty, pickled red cabbage, salsa, chipotle veganaise and avocado.

We’ve also got to mention their daily happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. That’s always tempting as you can enjoy great drinks at a super affordable price!

We do love a quirky name, but what we love even more about Wok in Wok Out is their tempting selection of aromatic dishes from all over South East Asia.

By including cuisines from countries like China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Korea and India, this restaurant will offer you a unique dining experience thanks to the fantastic aromas and flavors in each dish they serve. That’s why they made it on our list of vegan-friendly restaurants in Frederick, MD!

Although this contemporary restaurant isn’t solely vegan, the menu clearly labels the dishes that can be made vegan from scratch. Do note that this restaurant closes a little earlier compared to others (at 6:30pm), so make sure to drop in earlier.

One of the dishes worth trying are the Curry Fried Rice consisting of pineapple, sesame sauce, a protein of your choice such as tofu. Or try their Stir Fried Udon Noodles which is prepared with bean sprouts, onion, scallion, teriyaki sauce and a protein of your choice. Another popular favorite is the Vegan Drunken Noodles which consists of bean sprout, onion, carrots, cabbage, vegan drunken sauce and a protein of your choice.

Wok in Wok Out is open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch from 11:30am to 3pm and for dinner from 3:30pm to 6:30pm, but is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

5. Pistarro’s

Pizza is always a great idea when dining out with friends and family -at least for us. And what makes that experience even better is when you get to save some money while your at it! How do you do that? Well luckily Pistarro’s does great pizza and has and early dinner time happy hour from Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 6:30pm!

Although not solely vegan, we had to include Pistarro’s on our list of vegan restaurants in Frederick, MD for their tempting vegan selections. Whether you fancy dining al-fresco or want to enjoy your pizza in their lively rustic-chic restaurant, you can dig into their thin crust pizzas whilst enjoying a glass of wine.

Some dishes worth trying are the V-Supreme Pizza which is topped with tomato sauce, vegetarian sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms and soy milk mozzarella, and their Vegan Margherita topped with tomato sauce, soy milk mozzarella and basil.

Pistarro’s is open Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 11:40am to 9pm and on Friday and Saturday from 11:30am to 9:30pm.
