We did promise a diverse dining scene – and lo and behold, Rigat’s Kitchen delivers with international dishes to remember. We think you’ll definitely be impressed by the blend of globally inspired vegan soul food here, ranging from Ethiopian to Indian cuisine.

This unassuming vegan restaurant in Brixton offers up super nutritious and delicious plant based food. What makes things even better though, is they dish up that food in great portion size at a very affordable price.

You may even be greeted by the friendly and warm owner when you visit, and if lucky strike up a conversation about his background and journey to cooking vegan soul food. And if you’re confused by any of the dishes, just ask!

Some favourites here include the Okra Mushroom Curry that’s served with salad and a side. Another great option is the famous Berbere Stew with Red Rice. This Ethiopian dish is packed full of flavour thanks to the bright red spice – tasty!

5. Oowee Vegan

Sometimes you finish work and all you want is classic comfort food like a good ol’ burger. That’s why we just had to include a restaurant that serves some of the best vegan burgers and comfort food in Brixton.

Located close to Brixton Market, this hole-in-the-wall dishes out big flavour in every bite of their burgers thanks, in part, to their own special crispy coating which is made from a unique blend of 12 herbs and spices. This is no ‘Beyond Meat’ burger – we think it’s ten times better.

Oowee Vegan serves more dishes too, and if you love Dirty Fries, Popcorn Chick’n and even tater tots, they have it all!

Some popular choices include the BBQ Homestack Burger which consists of a vegan ‘beef’ patty, BBQ sauce, American cheese, onion rings, gherkins and lettuce. Another great pick is The Big Bacon Swiss which is prepared with a cispy chick’n, baconaise, smoked gouda, bacon, hash brown and lettuce.

As for the fries, we highly recommend the Jalapeno Cheese Waffle Fries. And for something sweet, why not go for the mouth-watering churros!

Oowee Vegan is open everyday from 11:30am to 10:30pm.

Address: Brixton Village, UNIT 91-92, London SW9 8PR

6. Peachy Goat

We’ve so far introduced you to a selection of casual vegan restaurants in Brixton, but we had to include this more upscale bistro which is perfect for a swanky evening out with your significant other or friends.

Peachy Goat attracts many regulars as they allow vegans the opportunity to fine-dine in style thanks to a classy range of dishes. When visiting, you can grab a seat inside or choose to sit on their charming outdoor patio on the warmer days.

Some favourite starters here include their Deep Fried ‘Camembert’ Bites, Apple & Date Chutney & Sourdough Toast or the Pea Arancini, Tomato Jam, Creamed Potato & Parmesan. As for the mains, we think that you’ll be impressed by the Grilled Aubergine Parmigiana, Herbs & Breadcrumbs or for a more hearty option, their ‘Blue Cheese’ Burger consists of veganzola, caramelised onions and a tasty balsamic glaze. This is an exclusively vegan restaurant, so those ‘cheese’ ingredients are of course vegan cheese.

Still peckish after these delicious dishes? You can enjoy more than just the usual vegan desserts (sorbet….) here thanks to tasty options like the Vanilla Cheesecake served with strawberries, strawberry gelato, white chocolate crumb & almonds, or the Mini Italian Biscoff Doughnuts which come with Vanilla Cream. Those have to be some of the best vegan desserts in Brixton!
